Are air source heat pumps noisy?

Modern air source heat pumps are designed to operate quietly. Most outdoor units produce noise levels comparable to a household appliance such as a dishwasher or refrigerator. Correct positioning and professional installation help minimise any potential disturbance to you or your neighbours.

Can an air source heat pump provide hot water as well as heating?

Yes. Air source heat pumps can provide both central heating and domestic hot water. Most systems are installed with a hot water cylinder, allowing you to enjoy reliable hot water throughout the year while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

Do I need planning permission for an air source heat pump in Worthing?

In most cases, no. Air source heat pumps are usually covered by permitted development rights, meaning planning permission is not required. However, additional restrictions can apply to listed buildings, conservation areas, and certain installation locations. A qualified installer can advise on any specific requirements for your property.

How efficient are air source heat pumps in the UK climate?

Air source heat pumps work effectively throughout the year, including during cold winter weather. Rather than generating heat, they extract heat from the outside air and transfer it into your home, making them highly energy efficient. Many systems can produce several units of heat for every unit of electricity consumed when correctly designed and installed.

Is my home suitable for an air source heat pump?

Many properties across Worthing and Sussex can benefit from an air source heat pump. Suitability depends on factors such as insulation levels, available outdoor space, existing heating systems, and your home's overall heat demand. A professional assessment can determine the best solution and expected energy savings for your property. Book a free home survey today.

Will I need new radiators with an air source heat pump?

Not always. Many existing radiator systems can be used with a heat pump, although some properties may benefit from larger radiators or underfloor heating to maximise efficiency. A heat loss survey will determine whether any upgrades are recommended for your home.
