If your radiators aren’t heating properly, your boiler is making unusual noises, or your energy bills are creeping up, your heating system could be suffering from a build-up of sludge and debris.
At Sussex Renewable Heating, our professional power flushing service is designed to thoroughly clean your central heating system - restoring performance, improving efficiency, and helping to extend the life of your boiler.
Power flushing is a deep-cleaning process for your central heating system. Using specialist equipment, we circulate high-flow water and cleaning chemicals through your pipes, radiators, and boiler to remove accumulated sludge, rust, and debris.
Over time, this build-up restricts water flow, reduces heat output, and forces your boiler to work harder than it should.
A professional power flush clears these blockages, allowing your system to run as it was designed to.
You may benefit from a power flush if you’re experiencing:
These are all common indicators of sludge build-up restricting circulation within your system.
At Sussex Renewable Heating, we follow a thorough and proven approach:
The process is efficient, controlled, and designed to deliver long-lasting results with minimal disruption.
Power flushing is recommended:
Regular maintenance helps avoid costly repairs and keeps your system operating at peak performance.
Common signs include radiators with cold spots, radiators that take a long time to heat up, unusual noises from the boiler or pipework, discoloured water when bleeding radiators, and recurring boiler faults. These can indicate that sludge or debris is restricting circulation within the system.
The time required depends on the size and condition of the heating system. Each radiator is individually flushed and cleaning chemicals may be used to break down stubborn deposits. Once the system has been thoroughly cleaned, an inhibitor is added to help protect it against future corrosion and build-up.
There is no fixed interval because it depends on the age, condition and type of heating system. A power flush may be worthwhile if your system is more than five years old and has never been cleaned, or if you are experiencing problems with heating performance. Sussex Renewable Heating only recommends power flushing when it is considered necessary for your system.
A power flush may be recommended before installing a new boiler if the existing heating system contains significant sludge or debris. Cleaning the system helps ensure good water circulation and can protect the new boiler from contaminants within the existing pipework and radiators.
A power flush can improve the circulation and performance of your central heating system, helping radiators heat more evenly and allowing your boiler to operate more efficiently. Removing sludge and debris can also reduce strain on system components and help prevent future heating problems.
